ABOUT IIMPS
Context: India’s Gigantic Pension Coverage Gap: Roughly 85 percent of India’s 400 million paid workforce are employed in the informal sector and are excluded from formal pension and retirement saving programs. Although nearly 200 million of these workers are capable of saving for their old age, they face modest, intermittent incomes, limited access to non-credit financial services and a high risk of outliving their savings.
JOB SUMMARY
IIMPS has pioneered the concept of “micro-pensions” in 2006. IIMPS promoters have played a key role in pension policy formulation and in the development of a private pension market in India. They have been advisors to the GOI on pension reforms since 1998 and are perhaps the most well informed group on pension policy, regulation, concepts and implementation issues in India.
Job Requirements
•Provide strategic input for future growth and expansion•Design, implement and manage the scale up•Provide clear leadership and direction to the organization, by implementing the business and action plans and achieving them•Delivering profits in an environment of tiny margins•Dynamic self-starter capable of energizing his or her staff providing strong leadership•Be directly responsible for the results of the institution and the legal representative of the institution•Recruit, retain and develop the talent needed to accomplish high performance standards.
Must haves
•Experience with banking operations and specially setting up (from scratch) nation-wide field outreach and distribution•Experience in large scale retail financial services in India with extensive background in financial institution management, preferably at senior management level with a proved record of results•At least ten years of direct experience in banking operations (preferably retail/ rural banking) and/ or non-banking financial services dealing with micro & small businesses or consumer lending highly recommended•Experience in establishing and scaling a business from design to implementation•Strong Skills in financial analysis, risk management and human resources management (at least at regional management level)•Open to look at candidates from Telecom / FMCG - Channel Sales and Distribution•Ability to lead, manage and coordinate large and multi-disciplinary teams•Ability to liaison with key stake holders including, investors, donors, regulators, bankers, industry associations, etc.
